Okonjo Iweala, Ben Bruce Congratulate Adesina On Re-election As AfDB President

Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as well as the Chairman of Silverbird Group, Ben Murray Bruce have congratulated Dr Akinwunmi Adesina on his reelection as President of the Africa Development Bank Group (AfDB).

Adesina was reelected by the Board of the multilateral institution for a second term of five years.
The AfDB election held virtually during its 55th Annual Meetings in Côte d’Ivoire.

On her official Twitter page @NOIweala, the World Bank guru wrote “Wonderful to get the news of the re-election of @akin_adesina as President of @AfDB_Group. Hearty congratulations to you, my brother, and to Grace! Wishing you five more fruitful years!!

Also, Ben Bruce through his twitter handle @benmurraybruce wrote; Congratulations on your reelection, my good friend and brother, @akin_adesina. The Board indeed made the right choice in voting for continuity, and Africa will be better for it.

Adesina on Wednesday called for unity within the institution in order to stabilise the bank to enable it to support the rebound of the African economy from the ravages of COVID-19.

Apart from being the sole candidate in the election, Adesina is the first Nigerian to occupy the role. The former Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture was elected for his first five-year term on May 28, 2015, at the 50th annual meetings, which took place in Abidjan.
