Fake Certificate Rumblings Hits CRFFN

By DAPO OLAWUNI

Few weeks after he “mistakenly” leaked an internal memo alleging the existence of 13 ghost workers in the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) there are indications that Mr. Bala Lawan Daura, a CRFFN board member may have attracted some enemies to himself.

In a viral email sent by one Mamman Yunusu on behalf of an unknown group called Freight Impunity Alert, Bala who is the President of Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN) was accused of commiting perjury and not being educated up to West Africa School Certificate level which he claimed in an affidavit.

In the mail which was received by our correspondent, the group said “As one of the conditions for election into CRFFN Governing Council in the 2018 CRFFN Governing Council election, a candidate was expected to swear an affidavit in support of personal information provided”

“Bala Lawan Daura, a candidate then and now member of CRFFN Governing Council falsely swore an affidavit in support of a personal information he provided that he was educated up to West Africa School Certificate level, thereby committing perjury”

“There is no record that Bala Lawan Daura is educated up to the level he claimed in the said affidavit” the report said.

However, when he was contacted by DAILY TREND NEWS, Mr Daura said he is aware of the mail, describing it as an attempt to blackmail and malign his person.

The CRFFN Board member said the mail and the allegations does not have any basis because he never had any issues with his secondary school results.

“I have also seen that email, but the mail does not have any basis, first of all, I don’t have any problems with my results, and whoever is writing such should come out and say where he is coming from, he wrote a petition and he failed to give his full details”

“If we start with the Registrar, he is not even a registered freight forwarder, if you are being pushed to play politics, why cant the person pushing you be the one to lead.
I am from Daura Local Government, even the president at one time was accused of not having certificates, but the people that were making the allegations came out openly to say it as PDP members”

“I never said there was ghost workers in CRFFN, it was somebody that sent an articulated report to me and I wanted to send it to the chairman, I was driving, so in the process of sending it to CRFFN Chairman, I mistakenly copied a public platform, and the message was sent, I could not delete it, I didn’t even know. It was an investigation we were conducting based on information made available to us” he said
