The Federal Government of Nigeria has dissolved the Governing Councils of Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko Delta State, and the University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
Federal Minister for Education, Adamu Adamu, according to the Director of Information, Mr. Ben Goong, said the the dissolution takes immediate effect.
”The Federal Government has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of the University Port Harcourt, Rivers State and the Nigeria Maritime University in Bayelsa State.
”The dissolution of the Governing Councils of the two universities takes immediate effect. The Minister thanked the members for their service to the institutions and wished success in their future endeavours.” he said
The Nigeria Maritime University was a baby of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA)
The project was conceptualized and implemented by the former Director General, Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi in 2014 under President Goodluck Jonathan.
