COVID 19: Five Star Logistics Donates N75M to CBN, N20M PPE To NPA

The management of Five Star Logistics Limited has supported the efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 with a donation of a sum of Seventy –Five Million Naira (N75M) into the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Private Sector Coalition against COVID 19 (CACOVID)

According to Mr. PL Carrodano, Managing Director, Five Star Logistics, ‘’the gesture is in alignment with the initiative of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian maritime industry to support the Federal Government of Nigeria in urits singular mission to rid Nigeria of the Coronavirus pandemic.’’

With a letter dated Tuesday 14th April 2020 and jointly signed by Chief Musa Danjuma and Mr. P. L. Carrodano, Chairman and Managing Director respectively and addressed to The Director of Corporate Communications of the CBN, Isaac Okorafo, it was noted that the money was not only a fulfillment of a pledge to the NPA to help in its drive to rid Nigeria of the pandemic but a genuine determination of the management of Five Star Logistics to help in restoring the society back to sanity, good health and good life.

The letter reads, in part: “We will remain resolute in our support with the federal government and people of Nigeria in ensuring that we all work hand in hand to flush COVID 19 out of Nigeria and the whole world.”

Besides, the management of Five Star Logistics has donated 1200 packs of hand sanitisers and 1600 packs of face masks worth Twenty Million Naira (N20 million) to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The materials were presented by Mr. Rigo Nazzari, General Manager, Comet Shipping Agencies, to Port manager of Tin Can Island Port (NPA), Abubakar Garbar Umar.

Also, sister companies of Five Star Logistics Limited- Comet Shipping Agencies Limited and Tarabaroz Fisheries Limited- have donated the sums of Five Million Naira (N5M) and Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) respectively to the Central Bank of Nigeria in support of its efforts to eradicate COVID 19 from Nigeria.

Five Star Logistics Limited, Concessioners of NPA Tin Can Island RoRO Port, has lately transformed the port into an exemplary terminal referenced in vehicle cargo warehousing in the Western Africa maritime sub region.

Receiving the items on behalf of NPA, the Port Manager, Tin Can Island Port Complex, Abubakar Umar, commended the management of Five Star Logistics for the donation of the relief materials, which he said would help reduce the spread of the virus among port users.

“Let me appreciate you for heeding to the request made by our Managing Director during an assessment visit to all the terminals to assess the health and challenges faced by terminal operators in regards to COVID-19.

“During that time, she drew attention to the need to also contribute to assist our workers who are day and night working in the ports being an essential service duty to keep the port operational. So, I am happy that you are here today with the items as your contribution to the fight against COVID-19. Be assured that the message will be conveyed to the management,” he said.
