A  cargo ship in the morning of Apr 10 off Ghana, Gulf of Guinea, escaped attack by daredevil pirates.

The product tanker BITU ATLANTIC (IMO 9382085, dwt 45986, was underway from Gibraltar to Lome Togo) when it was approached.

The ship was approached by a suspicious boat, pursued for some time, pursuers broke off and fled in about half an hour. Tanker didn’t stop or reduced speed, and continued voyage.

The vessel has been assessed as having a AMBER risk rating, with a specific risk rating of 45% (01-APR-20), compared to the fleet average 36%.
