Founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Dr. Boniface Aniebonam  has alleged that the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is indebted to Rockview Hotels in Apapa, Lagos.

Aniebonam  stated this while speaking at the 2nd Annual Bonded Terminal/Logistics Conference held at the Rockview Hotel in Apapa last week by Richword Communications and Media Services.

Though he failed to disclose the amount allegedly owed the hotel, Aniebonam  lamented irregularities in the CRFFN, especially in the formation and coming onboard of the present Council members.

Recall that NAGAFF currently has six of its members on the Governing Board of the CRFFN.
Aniebonam  said “As we are speaking, the CRFFN is owing this hotel (Rockview)”

“In the CRFFN, you all saw how the Council members came onboard in contravention of the Council Act, so CRFFN was made to fail from day one, but the good news is that six NAGAFF members are there and we would see how it goes” he said

Recall that Dr. Aniebonam  had played a prominent role in the formation of CRFFN and the enactment of its Act enacted into law on the 30th of April,2007.

Apart from these, the NAGAFF Founder called on the federal government to pull down buildings in Apapa in order to give way for the expansion of road network to the port.

He equally advised truck owners whom he identified as private business men, to come together and acquire a truck park for their trucks which are constituting a nuisance along the port corridor.

“Truck owners are also private business men, they can come together and acquire a truck park”

“On the part of government, from Nnewi building in Apapa port, government needs to knockout these buildings and open up the roads and free the traffic, the government has capacity to pay the damage” he said

The NAGAFF Founder Alao advised bonded terminal operators to form a synergy with the CRFFN and the freight forwarding association’s including NAGAFF and Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) on how they can attract cargoes to their terminal.

He said that bonded terminal operators have sat down for so long, doing nothing to promote their business but always blaming government.

“The private bonded terminal operators are business men and women, the duty of the government is to provide you with enabling environment especially the licensing regulations and I know the Nigeria Customs Service has that mandate to register bonded terminals, license them, including the inland container terminals”

“I want the bonded terminal owners to understand the players they need to work with, what are their reason for complaints today, it is either because they lack expert advise or they are greedy”

“You have the NAGAFF, ANLCA and CRFFN who has the mandate to control freight forwarders, what stops the private bonded terminals from linking up with these associations”

“The associations can instruct or advise their clients to direct their cargo to a particular bonded terminalThey seat at the comfort of their homes and complain” he said
