CIOTA President, Jamoh, Okwuashi, Gather to Address Neglect of Bonded Terminals In Nigeria

President of Chattered Institute of Transport Administration (CIOTA) and Executive Director of Finance at Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr Bashir Jamoh as well proprietor of Certified Institute of Shipping Nigeria (CISN), Prof. Alex Okwuashi are some of the stakeholders billed to speak at News Emperor’s Bonded Terminal/Logistics Conference 2019 which is slated to hold in Apapa on Thursday.

The Chief Executive Officer of foremost vehicle bonded terminals in Nigeria; Clarion Bonded Terminal, Mrs Bernadine Eloka is also expected to speak on challenges of bonded terminal operation in Nigeria.

This year’s edition of the conference which has the theme: “Private Bonded Terminal; A Key Player in Cargo Distribution and Logistics Management Chain” is coming at a time when private bonded terminal investors have alleged total neglect and abandonment by the federal government.

According to the convener and the Managing Director Richword Communication and Media Services, Mr. Ambrose Obioma Okehi, the conference will be chaired by Prof. Alex Okwuashi , while the Guest speaker is CIOTA President, Dr. Bashir Jamoh.

Obioma stated that “This year’s event is the second in the series as the first edition was held last year March 2018 at the same venue Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos with the theme: “Reviving The Dying Bonded Terminals”

“This year’s theme is apt based on the fact that the nation’s seaports particularly the Apapa and Tin Can Island ports are currently facing vehicular and human traffic”

“With the bonded terminals in full operation, this congestion and gridlock on Apapa Oshodi Expressway will by be a thing of the past,” he said

Speaking further, Mr. Okehi said “the idea of the one day conference is to bring together the bonded terminal owners and government officials as well as maritime stakeholders drawn from the haulage, transportation, courier service providers under one roof in order to rub minds on issues relating to cargo distribution and management chain”

“The Major aim is to see to the end the discriminatory attitude of port concessionaires against private bonded terminals and their business and finding a lasting solution”
