Naira Marley Continues to Languish in Prison Despite Bail

One week after Nigeria’s rave of the moment singer, Naira Marley was granted a 2 million naira bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos for offenses of internet fraud, there are indications that the artist is still languishing in prison because there was no one to stand as surety for him.

The bail was approved last Thursday, 30th of May, 2019 to the excitement of the singer’s family, friends and Marlians (Naira Marley’s fans) as they hoped the singer would be heading home shortly after the approval. 

However, things have not gone as expected as the singer still remains in custody even after seven days the bail appeal was granted. Many have then begun to wonder why that has come to be as the bail approval is the biggest challenge they ought to have faced which has been solved.

However, words on the street have it now that the reason the singer is still in custody is because a level 10 officer with a landed property in Lagos which is one of the criteria to meet for his release has not been found.

An unidentified person on the internet has then called out the so called Marlians for not been able to provide a surety who is a level 10 government officer who has landed properties in Lagos State for the singer to meet one of the requirements for the bail process to finally fall through.

He wrote; “All of una wey dey shout one mumu Free Marlians up and down, your role model is still in custody because so far no lagos State government level 10 and above officer with landed properties wants yo be a surety for him due to his criminal records

“Shey una no fit carry una papa or uncle come for am as surety since ni…abi?”
