Sallah Day Illegality: RCCG Police Nabs 2 Pipeline Vandals

While Muslim faithfuls were busy celebrating sallar yesterday, police officers attached to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Shimawa, Ogun State have arrested two suspect trying to vandalise an oil pipeline.

The officers under the Ogun State Police Command were attached to the RCCG Camp.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday.

He disclosed that the suspects were nabbed by officers attached to the RCCG Divisional Headquarters

According to Oyeyemi, the accused persons — Tunde Ramoni and Yinka Olufowobi — ran out of luck when policemen were on routine patrol in the area.

The statement said, “The two suspects were sighted in a blue Toyota Camry car with registration number RC 862 AAA loaded with petroleum product in sacks.

“On sighting the police, they made an attempt to escape but they were hotly chased and apprehended.”

The command’s spokesman explained that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were coming from Oloparun Village via Ogijo, where they used to get the product from a vandalised pipeline in collaboration with other accomplices living in the area.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects and exhibit to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for further investigation, with a view of apprehending other accomplices
