ANLCA@72: Team ‘Ahmed Olajide Bello’ of KLT Chapter Clinches Table Tennis Tournament Cup

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) chapter of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), under its Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Olajide Bello, has emerged winner of the keenly contested table tennis tournament organised by the association as part of its 72nd anniversary celebrations in Lagos.
The tournament held at the Not Bad Sport Arena, Egbeda, Lagos.
The three-day anniversary activities kicked off in Lagos on Sunday, drawing ANLCA members from across the country, including Kano and Port Harcourt.
The table tennis tournament, the first event marking the commencement of the celebrations, attracted the cream of ANLCA’s leadership, including National President Emenike Nwokeoji; Vice President and Chairman of the 72nd Anniversary Local Organising Committee, Prince Segun Oduntan; Patron of ANLCA, Prince Taiye Oyeniyi; members of the National Executive Committee (NECOM); and chairmen of various chapters.
The event was characterised by fanfare, banter, sumptuous meals, entertainment and camaraderie, as members used the opportunity to commend the Emenike-led executive for restoring unity and oneness within the association.
The National President declared the games open with an exhibition match against the Vice President, Prince Segun Oduntan, after which the players were paired and the competition proper began.
In the first round, KLT defeated Apapa chapter, while Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) chapter knocked out Ikorodu chapter. Seme edged out PTML chapter, Port Harcourt Airport chapter got the better of Lekki Port chapter, and Tin Can defeated Port Harcourt Area 1.
The quarter-finals saw MMIA beat Tin Can, Seme defeat PH Airport, KLT overcome Kano, and Seme edge past MMIA to advance.
In the final, Team Ahmed Olajide Bello of KLT chapter, represented by Abeeb Adebayo, defeated Olatunde Olubanjo of Seme chapter to claim the coveted first prize of N250,000.
Olubanjo settled for second place and N150,000, while Oladele Olawoye, Financial Secretary of the PH Airport chapter, and Ibrahim Jamiu of MMIA chapter shared third place and split the N100,000 prize.
Addressing members, Emenike said sport would always produce winners and losers.
“If you fail to win today, go home, prepare well and tomorrow might be your turn,” he encouraged members.
He noted that the tournament was important in instilling a spirit of sportsmanship, adding that sport is a tool for fighting enmity and, by extension, crime in society.
Emenike also presented cash gifts to young players from the Not Bad Sport Arena in Egbeda, who had earlier entertained the association with a novelty match.
The highpoint of the event was the prize presentation, conducted by the Local Organising Committee Chairman, Prince Segun Oduntan.
The ANLCA 72nd anniversary celebrations continue in Lagos on Monday with a Remembrance Day for the association’s late members and the presentation of gifts to widows and the elderly. The grand finale holds at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, on Tuesday, October 29, 2026, from 9 a.m.
The event is expected to attract heavyweights from Nigeria’s maritime industry, including the Comptroller-General of Customs, the Managing Director of NPA, the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) boss, terminal operators, shipping companies, CRFFN, sister associations, as well as past presidents and prominent leaders of ANLCA.
