Dangote Group, Western Naval Command Reaffirm Commitment to Security of Critical Assets At Ibeju-Lekki
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral AA Mustapha on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, met with the Executive Director, Commercial, Dangote Group, Hajiya Fatima Dangote, at the Dangote Refinery, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, to strengthen collaboration on the security of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) within the axis.
The engagement was a follow-up to earlier discussions between the Nigerian Navy and Dangote Group aimed at reinvigorating strategies for the effective conduct of naval operations to secure the Dangote Refinery, Single Point Mooring (SPM), and other critical assets within the Ibeju-Lekki axis and the wider Western Naval Command Area of Responsibility.
The Flag Officer Commanding was accompanied by the Command Operations Officer, Western Naval Command, and the Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base Lekki. The meeting was also attended by the Chief of Staff to the President of Dangote Group and the Director of Administration.
During the meeting, Rear Admiral Mustapha reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Navy, through the Western Naval Command, to ensuring the safety and security of CNAI within the Lekki Free Zone and adjoining maritime areas.
The FOC disclosed that the Nigerian Navy was taking necessary measures to expedite relevant approvals for the loading and offloading of products at the Dangote Single Point Mooring. He however, noted that delays arising from the laxity of some clearing agents affect the seamless conduct of operations.
Discussions also focused on the sustained deployment of Nigerian Navy ships by the Western Naval Command for patrols around the Single Point Mooring, as well as the deployment of early-warning cameras, drones and jammers to strengthen maritime domain awareness and security around the facility. The meeting also reviewed ongoing works at the temporary site of Forward Operating Base Lekki within the Dangote Free Zone.
In her remarks, Hajiya Fatima Dangote appreciated the Western Naval Command for its efforts in providing security for the Dangote Refinery and other Critical National Assets and Infrastructure within the Ibeju-Lekki axis.
The Executive Director assured the Flag Officer Commanding of the Dangote Group’s continued support towards facilitating effective and seamless naval operations, noting that a secure environment was essential for economic activities to thrive.
Hajiya Fatima further assured that efforts would be intensified to ensure the timely completion of ongoing renovation works at facilities occupied by Forward Operating Base Lekki, aimed at improving the welfare of personnel and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Base.
The engagement underscores the shared commitment of the Nigerian Navy and Dangote Group to strengthening security, safeguarding critical national assets and creating a conducive environment for sustained economic activities to thrive.
