GreenPath Africa to Host Climate Careers Festival, Targets 500 Young Professionals for Placement Across Nigeria

GreenPath Africa, a pan-African nonprofit platform connecting clean energy, sustainability and climate professionals, students, entrepreneurs and investors across 25 African countries, will host the Climate Careers Festival (CCF) on September 29, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
The one-day festival will bring together young professionals and students from across Nigeria’s clean energy, sustainability and climate sectors for a day of panel discussions, employer engagement, and direct placement opportunities, offering a pathway from the festival floor into internships and entry-level roles.
A core aim of the festival is to show attendees that their existing academic backgrounds and work experience are already relevant to the climate sector, whether in clean energy, climate-smart agriculture, climate finance or related fields, and do not require starting over to break in.
Africa holds more than 60 percent of the world’s best solar resources, according to the International Energy Agency, yet the continent accounted for roughly 2 percent of the world’s 16.2 million renewable energy jobs in 2023, per data from IRENA and the International Labour Organisation. CCF was built to confront that gap directly.
“We built CCF because young Nigerians interested in climate and energy work keep running into the same wall of plenty of ambition with very few doors that actually open,” said Ayobami Adedinni, Founder and CEO of GreenPath Africa. “This isn’t a networking event where people collect business cards and go home. Companies are showing up with actual placement slots. That’s the whole point.”
GreenPath Africa launched in January 2026 with members across 25 African countries, built on the premise that Africa should lead the energy transition, not simply participate in it.
