FOC Western Naval Command, Police AIG Zone 2 Reaffirm Commitment to Enhanced Security Collaboration
The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Abubakar Mustapha, on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Lagos, Moshood Jimoh, as part of efforts to further strengthen inter-agency collaboration in the nation’s security architecture.
Speaking during the visit, the FOC expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation. He also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Admiralty Medal, to the AIG and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force for their dedication and commitment to maintaining peace and security across the country.
Rear Admiral Mustapha stated that the visit was aimed at formally introducing both leadership teams as key stakeholders in the nation’s security architecture while reinforcing the existing partnership between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force.
The FOC further emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration and leverage technology in enhancing the security of the nation’s creeks and waterways, noting that a secure maritime environment is critical to stabilising the maritime sector and creating an enabling environment for economic activities to thrive.
Responding, AIG Moshood Jimoh appreciated the FOC for the visit and lauded the Nigerian Navy, particularly the Western Naval Command, for its outstanding contributions to the protection of Nigeria’s waterways and the security of the maritime domain. He noted that the Command’s sustained operational efforts have continued to complement those of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring peace and security within its area of responsibility.
The AIG reaffirmed the need to further strengthen the existing collaboration and synergy among security agencies through enhanced intelligence sharing, joint operations and mutual support. He stressed that with the nation approaching the election period, it was imperative for all security agencies to remain united, work on the same page and maintain a coordinated approach towards combating crime and safeguarding lives and property.
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, reaffirming the shared commitment of the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force to deepening inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding lives, property and national assets.
