Tenure Extension: APFFLON Urges Customs CG Adeniyi to Prioritize Officers Welfare, Healthcare

The Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the APFFLON President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the extension was well deserved, and it is a testament to the remarkable leadership, professionalism, dedication, and transformational reforms that the CGC has brought to the Nigeria Customs Service.
In a statement on Saturday, Otunba Ogunojemite said “Under his stewardship, the Service has witnessed significant improvements in revenue generation, trade facilitation, stakeholder engagement, anti-smuggling operations, and the modernization of customs processes, all of which have contributed immensely to the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
“On behalf of APFFLON members nationwide, the National President, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, commends the Federal Government for recognizing the outstanding contributions of the CGC and entrusting him with the opportunity to consolidate on the gains already recorded”
While celebrating Adeniyi’s milestone, APFFLON, has equally urged him to make the welfare of serving and retired customs officers a top priority during this extended tenure.
The association advocated for the introduction of comprehensive and life-long medical care programmes for customs personnel, considering the enormous sacrifices and occupational hazards associated with their duties.
“We believe that a sustainable healthcare framework that guarantees quality medical treatment for officers and their families, both during active service and after retirement, will significantly boost morale, productivity, and commitment to national service.
“Furthermore, APFFLON calls for the strengthening of insurance schemes and welfare packages for customs officers. Adequate health and life insurance coverage will provide security and peace of mind for officers who daily put their lives on the line in the protection of Nigeria’s borders and economic interests.
“The extension of the CGC’s tenure presents a unique opportunity to leave a lasting legacy not only in institutional reforms and revenue generation but also in the welfare, healthcare, and overall well-being of the men and women of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“APFFLON remains committed to supporting the Nigeria Customs Service and all initiatives aimed at promoting trade facilitation, economic development, and the welfare of officers and stakeholders within the maritime and logistics sector.
