LASTCOC Mobilises Lagos Truckers for INEC Voter Registration, Ahead of July 10 Deadline

The Lagos State Truck and Cargo Operators Committee (LASTCOC) has issued a public appeal to all truck operators in Lagos State, urging them to take advantage of the ongoing final phase of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise before the July 10, 2026 deadline.
In a notice signed by the committee’s chairman, Alhaji Lukmon Shittu Zangalo, LASTCOC warned that truckers who fail to register or update their voter details risk being shut out of electoral decisions that directly affect their livelihoods, including policies on road conditions, truck parks, levies, and business regulation.
“Truckers move Lagos. Without PVC, your voice is silent when decisions about roads, parks, levies, and your business are made,” the notice read, emphasising the stakes for one of the commercial capital’s most critical logistics workforces.
LASTCOC noted that the current window, which INEC has described as the final phase of the CVR, is the last opportunity for eligible truckers to register as new voters, transfer their voter registration to Lagos State, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or update their personal details on the voters’ register.
With only 23 days remaining before the July 10 cutoff, the committee urged truckers to act without delay, warning that the window will not be extended.
According to the notice, registration can be completed either online through INEC’s dedicated portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org or in person at any INEC State or Local Government Area office across Lagos.
Alhaji Zangalo, in the notice, framed civic participation as a tool of self-protection for the trucking community, which has long grappled with policy challenges ranging from multiple taxation and extortion at truck parks to poor road infrastructure on key haulage corridors in and around Lagos.
“Your PVC is your power. Your vote is your protection,” the LASTCOC Chairman insisted.
