PTML Customs Boss, DC Miko Meets Terminal Operator, Freight Forwarders, Seeks Improvement on 2hrs Cargo Clearance Time

The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Port & Terminal Multi-services Limited Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Nura Miko, has called for stronger collaboration with terminal operators and other stakeholders to enhance trade facilitation, improve cargo clearance efficiency, and surpass existing revenue targets.
DC Miko made the call on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, during his maiden visit to the Grimaldi/PTML Terminal in Lagos, where he met with the management of Grimaldi, PTML, and other port stakeholders.
He commended the management of PTML and Grimaldi for their investments and commitment to positioning PTML as Nigeria’s leading Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) port facility, noting that the terminal has distinguished itself through high security standards and compliance with international regulations.
Highlighting PTML’s record of a two-hour cargo clearance time for compliant RoRo imports, Miko challenged stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving even shorter clearance timelines without compromising integrity.
“PTML Command holds the record as the Command with a two-hour cargo clearance time for compliant RoRo imports. As a Service, we can do even better and further shorten that time without compromising our integrity. This will also translate into more efficient management of your terminal space,” he said.
The Acting Customs Area Controller also assured stakeholders of an inclusive leadership style, stressing that their contributions would be critical to achieving shared objectives.
“I am here to listen. Your insights, expertise, and perspectives are vital to our success. I look forward to engaging with you to align our efforts for mutual growth. Whatever we have achieved together in the past can, and will be, surpassed,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the terminal management, the General Manager of PTML, Tunde Keshinro, pledged continued support and cooperation with the Nigeria Customs Service to advance its mandate and sustain operational efficiency at the terminal.
“You have been a positive influence on the business fortunes of Grimaldi as a group. In whatever way, you have been supportive of everything we have done, and on that note, I am quite positive that whatever the challenge, if we have a good understanding, we can cross the grey areas,” Keshinro said.
As part of the stakeholder engagement, DC Miko also met with heads of sister security agencies and representatives of the African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria and the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents.
He reiterated the Command’s readiness to deepen collaboration with stakeholders, sustain trade facilitation gains, and improve revenue performance.
