In an era where digital health records are vulnerable to breaches, ransomware, and unauthorized access, one cybersecurity expert is pioneering a groundbreaking solution.

Dr. Olusayo Oluwadare, a Nigerian-born cybersecurity researcher and encryption specialist based in the United States, is gaining international attention for his revolutionary work in secure medical communication.

His most notable contribution? A novel encryption framework that combines Linear Feedback Shift Registers (LFSRs) and AES protocols to deliver fast, lightweight, and highly secure transmission of medical images across cloud-based and hybrid Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).

Encryption for the Underserved: A Global Impact

Dr. Oluwadare’s work is already being implemented in healthcare settings. A leading hospital in Nigeria is currently test-running the system, with strong indicators for full adoption in the coming months.
Additionally, he is currently in active discussions with two hospitals in the United States for the integration of his encryption model into their radiology and PACS infrastructure. These discussions are progressing positively, and formal adoption is expected soon.

“My goal is to create encryption systems that are not only secure but practical and accessible for hospitals, especially in regions where computational resources are limited,” Dr. Oluwadare explains.

Q: What inspired your research focus on PACS encryption systems?

Dr. Oluwadare: I’ve always been concerned about the integrity of digital health records. With increasing reliance on telemedicine and AI diagnostics, I realized there was an urgent need for a secure but fast system that could function well even in low-bandwidth or resource-limited environments.


Q: What makes your encryption system different from traditional models?

Dr. Oluwadare: Most systems rely solely on AES or RSA, which are powerful but often heavy and not well-suited for real-time image transfers. My model integrates LFSRs—a concept from stream ciphers—and hybridizes it with AES, enabling faster encryption with layered protection.

Q: How is your work being received globally?

Dr. Oluwadare: I’ve received invitations to judge cybersecurity competitions and have partnered with hospitals and academic institutions in both Nigeria and the U.S. It’s rewarding to see the system tested and appreciated for its practical value.

Currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Adjunct Faculty of Computer Science at Fayetteville State University, Dr. Oluwadare is combining academic theory with real-world engineering. His research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and his influence is growing not just as a scholar, but as a creator of secure, scalable, real-time encryption solutions for critical sectors like healthcare and mobile communication.
