JUST IN: President Tinubu to Declare Open Customs CG Conference 2023, As Date Shifts to Thursday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare open the Nigeria Customs Service CG Conference scheduled to hold in Lagos on Thursday, 14 December 2023, by 10 am prompt at the Grand Africa Ballroom of the prestigious Lagos Continental Hotel.

According to a message from the Public Relations Unit of the Customs, the event which was scheduled earlier to hold on Wednesday 13th December, was rescheduled to Thursday 14th in order to accommodate the President’s presence.

The message read “This is to inform our esteemed guests that the opening ceremony of the 2023 Comptroller-General of Customs Conference taking place at Lagos Continental Hotel has been rescheduled from Wednesday, 13 December to Thursday, 14 December 2023, by 10 am prompt.

“All other events scheduled between 13 and 15 December 2023 will be held as planned.

“The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, is expected to be the Special Guest of Honor”

The Customs Comptroller General, Wale Adeniyi had said in a recent broadcast that the theme of this year’s conference is “Leveraging Data Analytics for Secure and Efficient Trade Facilitation in Customs Operations”.

He had said that the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, is expected as the special guest of honour while the Governor of Lagos state, Mr Babajide Sanwo- Olu and the Minister of Finance and the coordinating minister of Economy, Wale Edun, are also expected to grace the occasion.

Adeniyi stated that this year’s conference will centre around the discussion on implementing new measures to enhance service operations, championing secure and efficient operations across the federation.
