MARAN, Customs CG, Ex-NIMASA DG, Bashir Jamoh Commiserate Asu Beks Over Loss of Wife

The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the former Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) as well as the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) have sent condolences to veteran maritime journalist and convener of Maritime Elders Platform, Elder Asu Beks over the recent demise of his wife, Mrs Helen Asu Beks.

Adeniyi in a letter dated 25th oglf November 2025 on behalf of the Officers and Men of the Customs Service extended his deepest condolences to Asu Beks family in this challenging time, even as he offered prayers for the family to bear the loss.

“The loss of a wife is never easy,and we can only imagine the profound sorrow you and your loved ones must feel.We understand that Mrs. Helen was not only a cherished wife but also a remarkable mother whose warmth,
kindness and strength touched the lives of many.

“As you navigate through this period of grief,we hope that you find some
consolation in the memories you shared and the positive impacts she made in her
lifetime. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of
knowing her” Adeniyi’s letter read
The ex-NIMASA Director General, Dr Bashir Jamoh on his part said he is saddened to hear about the passing of Mrs Helen Asu Becks.

“She was a truly remarkable wife, mother, friend, mentor, community leader, and the void her absence creates will be felt by all who knew her.
Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you mourn this great loss” Dr Jamoh wrote.

In the same vein, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) have equally commiserate with Asu Beks being a former President and founding fathers of the association.
The Association expressed deep shock and exasperation over the incident hence wishing our former President, his lovely Children and the entire extended family members of the great Asu Beks dynasty, divine strength, fortitude and courage to bear the great loss.

“Every MARAN member prays that the Good Lord, will continue to preserve and protect the family while the soul of the Departed AMAZON, be granted a perfect rest on the bosom of the Almighty God.

“We all say, “TAKE HEART SIR”, for the Good Lord assures us that, those who sleep in Him are not dead but will resurrect on that bright Resurrection Morning, to part no more.

“Sir, do take consolation in this fact and be strong in Him. MARAN loves and stands with you in fervent prayers that would avail much, in His sight” it says
