Kano International Airport Airfreight Stakeholders Forum Elects Muftahu Ya’u President

The Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Airfreight Stakeholders Forum (ASF) has elected Muftahu Ya’u as its President, even as the Nigerian Shippers Council has presented certificate of office to Ya’u and the new executives members.

The Forum is formed by the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) for the purpose of protecting the interest of the Nigerian Shippers. In carrying out this responsibility, the NSC liases and collaborates with both government and private agencies by providing both information and technical assistance to them; foster collaboration and cooperation for the development and growth of the Airfreight sector.

The election took place on Wednesday 12th November, 2025 at the conference room of the Nigerian Shippers Council North West Zone (NWZ) zonal coordinating Office during an enlarged assembly meeting of members.

Under the supervision of the Shippers Council NWZ coordinating Director, Alh. Ahmed U. Yazah and other staff of the NSC, Muftahu Ya”u was elected and pronounced president alongside other executive members for a tenure of five (5) years.

Ya’u, a registered freight forwarder, who had earlier served a term of one year as Interim President of the forum, was also among the last set of fifteen elected freight forwarders to serve in the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) 4th Governing Council, representing Nigerian Airports and Land Borders.

The Board were inaugurated in year 2022 by former Minister of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Ya’u also chaired the Media and Publicity Committee of the council. He is also the founder and Managing Director of Khair Worldwide Ent. LTD., a customs licenced freight forwarding company.

Present at the meeting were representatives from government regulatory agencies, shippers and freight forwarding associations.

The newly elected president thanked the NSC and its management staff, particularly the present Director (NWZ), Alh. Ahmed U Yazah and the two former Directors, A. S Bashir and Hajiya Karimatu Othman for their commitment and sacrifices for the well-being of the forum.

He also thanked AD Mohammed Audu, AD Hajiya Adama Kwajaffa, POS Hajiya Raliya Umar Baba all from NSC for their support to the forum.

He also thanked all government and private agencies representatives at the meeting, for their immeasurable contributions to the progress of the forum right from its inception, during the Interim executives tenure, and for further putting more trust in them by having them returned as substantive executives.

He then promised to continue to work closely with all stakeholders, depending their interests and ensure taking into cognizance their respective inputs before reaching every decision on behalf of the forum.

Ya’u also appealed to the forum members to continue giving the executives due support and not to hesitate to draw their attention on matters deemed useful in promoting well-being of the forum.

In his vote of thanks speech, the Director NSC (NWZ) thanked the members of the forum for attending the meeting and also for electing new executives to pilot the affairs of the forum. He charged the new executives to work hard so as to deliver on their responsibilities.
