Fresh indications have emerged that the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Dr Abubakar Dantsoho is set up a committee to review the salaries of NPA staff.

This was confirmed by the outgone President of NPA Branch of Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) Comrade Ifeanyi Mazeli during the 6th Quadrannial Branch Delegate Conference of the Union in Lagos on Monday.
Before handing over to his successor, Comrade Mazeli reeled out the achievements of the union under his watch, even as he confirmed that the salary review committee set up by the NPA management have concluded its job and awaiting implementation.

“Prior to our administration, there was no upward salary review for the workers of Nigerian Ports Authority, and this lasted for eighteen (18) years. But, permit me to say that this administration with the support of the national Secretariat, the situation is no longer so.

“We can boldly say that as a result of the minimum wage Act of the Federal Government, our management set up a committee on how to improve on the current salary of workers.

“So far, the committee have submitted their report, and from all indications, management is working on it and something positive would come out very soon. I can say that for sure because my signature is also on it” Comrade Mazeli said

  1. Sir, for NPA to say that it has not increased it’s salaries for the past 18 years is misleading the public and, it’s a blatant Lie.
It is the NPA Retirees that; NPA Management Deliberately Refused to Increase their Pension Wage for the past 18 years now, despite the Fact that The Salaries and Wages Commission has instructed NPA to Increase the Retirees Pension, the NPA Refused.
NPA has Increased it’s Salaries under tge following Managing Directors: Adiza Bala Usman, Bello-Koko and now they want to Increase again under Dantsoho.
Please, go to Salaries And Wages Commission, Abuja to find out.
NPA, CBN and NNPC are on the same level, while CBN and NNPC javs Complied with Federal Government Constitution and increased their Retirees Pension, NPA deliberately Refised.
The Big Questions now are: Why is NPA not wanting to Comply the Federal Government Constitution?
Has NPA Management deeped it’s hands into the Pension Superannuation Fund?
What is the Agenda behind their not wanting to Increase their Retirees Pension?
Please help us the Pensioners to publish and bring this information to the Federal Government and the Nigerian Public, also to the whole World.
    Please help.
The Pensioners are dying every day.
    Thank you so much.

    1. It’s rather most unfortunate that workers who have put in their best and sustained the administration and operations of the Nigeria Ports Authority are left in direct quagmire of unimaginable dimension!
Why is the management of the Ports so slow and almost aloof at taking a positive action to spur those in service today to greater and incorruptible performance?
      I wish to real out comprehensively the negative implication of this inaction,;
      1.
Those that are working now definitely will be so affected when they are retired and retirement is a must.
      2.
Leads to suffer of eros8on of purchasing power.

      6.
Negative impact on health and wellbeing.

      9.
      Adverse effect on retirement planning.
      10.
      Economic strains on pensioners.
      11.
Increase reliance on Social Welfare or grants from the government that are proportionally ditched out these days hased on party affiliation. I can go on and on but would like NPA Management to note that what comes around, goes around.
In this regard and for justice and equity, since this policy negatively affects and poses challenges that can adversely affect the quslity of lives of pensioners, I suggest, Management should consider it a priority for review and begin to consider annual increment on the pension payment.
Thank you as you give urgent positive
consideration to this request that will definitely affect even those in service today.
