AMATO Pledges Support for Customs CG Adeniyi, Hails his new Role as Chairperson of WCO Council

The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMATO) has said that it stands ready to support the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi in his new role and wishes him a highly successful tenure as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council.

President of AMATO, Chief Remi Ogungbemi in a statement at the weekend expressed congratulations to the customs CG on his unanimous election as the Chairperson of the WCO Council.

Adeniyi’s election was announced at the concluding session of the 145th/146th WCO Council Meetings in Brussels at the weekend.

Chief Remi Ogungbemi, speaking on behalf of AMATO, expressed immense pride and delight at CGC Adeniyi’s ascension to this prestigious global position.

According to him “This is a moment of pride for all Nigerians, and especially for the maritime sector. Adeniyi’s election as the first Nigerian to lead the WCO Council is a testament to his exceptional leadership, dedication, and the transformative reforms he has initiated within the Nigeria Customs Service.”

“We have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of CGC Adeniyi’s leadership on customs operations in Nigeria, and we are confident that under his chairmanship, the WCO will achieve new heights in promoting global best practices and addressing the complex challenges of international trade.”
