NIWA MD, Oyebamiji Officially Declares Interest to Contest Osun Governorship Under APC

After months of speculation in the media, the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji has officially declared his intention to run for the Osun State Governorship election slated for 2026 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyebamiji made his intention known during a visit to the party’s leadership at the APC Secretariat at Ogo-Oluwa in Osogbo, Osun State Capital on Tuesday.
Oyebamiji said he has what it takes to run a good Government, citing his 15 years of experience in Government and 28 years in private enterprise as a cutting edge.

“I am here today to honor the party’s structure and inform the party leadership of my intention to run for governor of the state in 2026. For us to start any advocacy or campaign we have to come here to have their blessing and to communicate my interest today.

“I have been in this government for almost 15 years, have worked with the highest leadership of the party, and have spent 28 years in the private enterprise, combine together I have what it takes to run a good government if given the opportunity”, he said.

Speaking on the zoning of Governorship position to the West Senatorial District of the State, Oyebamiji, who is from the West, urged the party to consider zoning the position to the West Senatorial District for equity and justice.

He praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, stating that President Bola Tinubu is doing very well in restructuring the nation’s economy.
The APC Chieftain said, “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has done very well, he did well, you can see the restructuring of our economy.

“The most important thing about driving a nation is the economy. That school of thought is the best school of thought in the world, we are gradually coming out of a developing country to a developed country through right policies and decisions on propelling the economy of this country.”
