Port Police CP, Maikaba Pledges Support for MARAN, Commends Bivbere-led Execo for Responsible Reportage of Maritime Sector

The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba has pledged the command’s support for the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) and the Godfrey Bivbere led executives of the association.

CP Maikaba also commended the oldest maritime journalists beat association for its responsible reportage of the maritime sector and activities of the police command.

Speaking during a visit to the Comissioner in Apapa Lagos on Thursday, President of MARAN, Mr Godfrey Bivbere stated that he and members of MARAN were at the Command Headquarters to familiarize themselves and show solidarity with the Commissioner of Police.

While assuring the CP of the association’s support, Mr Godfrey pledged that achievements of the command would be given wide coverage as the command plays a pivotal role in securing the gateway for international trade and foreign exchange earnings for the country.

CP Maikaba on his part appreciated the warm hands of fellowship extended to him, and pledged a cordial working relationship with the association.

Meanwhile, the new director of the Department of State Service (DSS) Mr A. Babatunde in charge of the Travel and Alien Control Post, Apapa Wharf on Thursday also paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police.

Mr Babatunde stated that the purpose of his visit was to formally introduce himself and other members of his team while also seeking to maintain the existing cordial relationship between the two agencies of government to ensure peace security at the ports.

In his response, the CP stated that the police and DSS are one family, and he would give the new director all the necessary support he needs in his new assignment. The meeting came to an end with the signing of the visitors’ register and exchange of plaques.
