Chief Executive Officer of Daily Trend Media Network Limited, Publishers of DAILY TREND, Mr Dapo Olawuni has been nominated for the Dr Bashir Jamoh’s Price for the Best Maritime Reporter of the Year 2022 at the Maritime Industry Merit Awards (MIMA)

MIMA Awards is hosted by Shipping World Magazine, a publication of Maritime Media Limited which is set to celebrate its 25th Year Anniversary on 9th of January at Oriental Hotel Lagos.

His Excellency, Sen Douye Diri, Executive Governor of Bayelsa State is billed to Chair this iconic event, while Dr Bashir Yusuf Jamoh, Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, will be Chief Host

In a letter of nomination signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Maritime Media Limited, Elder Asu Beks, the award is in recognition of Mr Olawuni’s invaluable contributions to the Nigeria media Industry.

Recall that in September 2022, Mr Olawuni was given the Journalist Recognition Award for Year 2022 at the Maritime and Offshore Awards; OMIS Award.

According to Mr Asu Beks, a doyen of maritime journalism in Nigeria, twenty five years ago, Maritime Media Limited, a media consultancy and publishing outfit with special focus on Nigeria’s maritime industry, introduced the MIMA to acknowledge and reward the genuine efforts of Nigerians as strategic and indispensable stakeholders facilitating growth and development of the country’s maritime industry.

“We are also publishers of ‘Shipping World’ the authoritative industry journal, and producers of ‘Shipping on Radio’, a current affairs programme on Radio.

“MIMA primarily focuses on individuals and Corporate organisations whose activities have had significant and measurable impact on Maritime Infrastructure Development, Human Capital, Security, as well as opportunities aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s vast maritime resources.

“And for the first time in the 25 years history of MIMA which also coincides with the 25th anniversary Shipping World, we introduced a new category to celebrate media category in recognition of critical role of the Media in Nation building.
