ANLCA Crisis: CAC Withdraws Certificate Paraded by Dr Taiwo Afolabi Led BOT Faction

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has further confirmed the Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha led Board of Trustees (BOT) as the only authentic and recognized custodian of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA)
This is even as the CAC has withdrew the certificate of registration recently paraded by the Dr Taiwo Afolabi led BOT of the association in which some members alleged was obtained through the back door.
This was confirmed in a report generated on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 by the CAC, a copy of which was circulated to news men by the interim National President, Mr Pius Ujubonu on Monday.
In the report, the CAC restated Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Mr Dayo Azeez, Henry Njoku,Taiye Oyeniyi, Dennis Okafor, Earnest Elochukwu, Aare Sanni Shittu, Peter Obi as the registered BOT of the association.
The ANLCA had been plunged into a leadership crisis since 2018, immediately the immediate past President, Tony Iju Nwabunike took over reigns of the association. Nwabunike was also unable to manage the crisis before the expiration of his tenure in April this year.
DAILY TREND reports that the major cause of the crisis was the refusal of the Tony Iju’s administration to recognize the leadership of the Taiwo Mustapha led BOT, thereby conducting a kangaroo election to swear in another BOT in which the SIFAX Group Chairman, Dr Taiwo Afolabi was forcefully co-opted to act as it’s chairman.
At the expiration of the administration recently, the authentic BOT of Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha inaugurated an interim executive to manage the affairs of the association for three months and conduct fresh elections, but this was never allowed to be, as the Tony Iju’s faction of the association, despite expiration of their tenure, caused mayhem at an organized Western Zone meeting at Tin Can Port, leading to bloodshed.
The Nigerian Police has however directed the ANLCA National Secretariat to be shutdown, as well as all chapter Secretariats till further notice.
Meanwhile the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is concluding it’s investigation on the root cause of the crisis and would be delivering it’s report to the Minister of Transportation, Eng Muazu Jaji Sambo.
ANLCA members have expressed confidence in the CRFFN to resolve the 8-years long crisis, and their readiness to abide by whatever recommendations the Council is coming out with.
