Maritime Journalist; Joy Anaedu Joins NAGAFF, Emerges As Financial Secretary, Tin Can Port Chapter

A maritime journalist and member of Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) Mrs Joy Anaedu has found a new passion in freight forwarding as she joined the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), this is even as she has emerged as financial Secretary of the association at the Tin Can Port Chapter.
Prior to this time, Mrs Anaedu was two-time Financial Secretary of MARAN.
In an election conducted on Tuesday at the NAGAFF Headquarters Apapa Lagos, Mrs Anaedu clinched position of the Financial Secretary of Tin Can Port Chapter alongside Emeka Chiedozie who emerged as Chairman of the chapter. He took over from Chief Azubuike Ekweozor.
Others who emerged in the election are; Ifeanyi Emoh as the vice chairman, Amadi Patrick as secretary, Nonso Igboanugo as assistant secretary, Chamberlain Oguezi as treasurer, Mustapha Isa Aboki as the public relations officer, Deborah Ihedi as the welfare officer, Ejike Madu as the ethics, compliance and disciplinary officer.
Others include; Emeka Nwankwo as the Customs Freight Forwarding Relations Officer, Peter Nwagbara as the inspection and intelligence officer and Ishmael Amobi Chukwunyere as the presidential liaison officer.
In a chat with journalists after the elections, the newly elected chairman, Emeka Chiedozie revealed that he would be working on a three point agenda which includes empowerment, restoration of the past glory of the chapter and the instilling of the culture of integrity in members of the chapter.
No! There are earlier myriads of problems emanating from all the stakeholders operating in Nigeria ports. However, the Nigeria Ports Authority as the main landlord to the Terminal operators is largely responsible for shouldering the challenges in the Lagos ports areas which are militating against smooth operations. The trade in the present system has changed a lot, there is no reason for any friction. Everything in operational aspects are carefully streamlined in tune with world class standards. Its absurd to even think trackers would be having any issue directly with the Nigeria Customs Service in the ports. The new Union Executives needs to hit the ground running, to stop any embarrassing situation from arising.
