The Lagos State government has said that wearing of favemasks in public places would become compulsory in the State, starting from next week.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a press briefing on Monday said the state has contracted tailors who will prepare one million face masks, adding that they will be distributed during the week.

He however urged Lagosians not to panic, adding that 14 deaths have so far been recorded since the pandemic started.

The governor disclosed that two more isolation centres have been created at Landmark Centre and Gbagada, and urged those who have the symptoms of the virus to go for test.

“We have seen that people that are suspected to have the virus have declined to present themselves or go
into private hospitals. The isolation centres are not death centres.

“From next week, we are going to be enforcing wearing of face mask in public places. Over a million has been commissioned to tailors and will be distributed during the week. It’s important we do not panic. This pandemic will be over and sizeable number of our people will get well.” he said
